Replacing the Water Pump, Thermostat Redo, & Flea Market Finds!

After another lull in updates on the Jeep, this week I finally have things to show! I’d been meaning to replace my post-war water pump with a GPW wartime-style water pump, and this was the week it happened! I also re-did my thermostat which was leaking slightly. I also worked out a way to do some temporary markings, and I go through some more recent Jeep flea market finds!

T-84 Transmission and D-18 Transfer Case

Transmission Project Continues…

After last week’s successful dismantling of the transfer case, this week I work on cleaning/painting the case to a nice OD Green! I also replaced some bushings in the T-84 transmission gears and realized some issues with another gear. Also, in this update, I show how the T-84 works in first, second, third, and reverse. Lastly, I finally found a war-time jerry can nozzle and show the differences between wartime and post-war nozzles!

A slow week…

A slow week…

This week slowed down to a crawl as I’m in a bit of a waiting pattern for the next stages of the axle work. But I did work on some of the smaller items I purchased two weeks ago at the swap meet, and I continued (slow) work on restoring the original GPW hood.

PART 1: As I predicted, last week was the calm before the storm, and this past week it’s been one heck of a ride! In fact, it’s so much I have to split it into two parts! After attending a military vehicle swap meet, I came away with a horde of new items for the Jeep, including an original Sparton Horn which I completely restore in this update!
